Eric Newell is entering his sixth season as the Head Coach of the Williams Baptist College volleyball team. He has set numerous records in his five years in charge of the program. His overall record stands at 122-64 entering the 2012 season. The 122 win total is a school record for volleyball.
In 2007 (his first season as the head coach), his squad finished the season with a record above .500 for the first time in Williams history. Their record of 24-10 earned Newell the American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year.
In 2011, WBC finished with a record of 27-9, which is the highest winning percentage in team history.
He has coached 10 All-Conference players, 24 Academic All-Conference players, and 6 NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The Lady Eagles have won at least 20 games per season in four of the five years under Newell.
Newell has a Bachelors of Science in Education from Williams Baptist College and a Master's of Science from William Woods University. He also is the Head Coach for the Lady Eagles softball team.
Newell married April Newell on August 3, 2002. The couple has five daughters: Gabriella 8, Juliana 7, Adalynn 4, Jillian 3, and Jacqueline 4 months old.
