Eric Newell is entering his seventh season as the Head Coach for the Lady Eagles softball team. He has enjoyed an unprecedented amount of success in his time at Williams Baptist College. His overall record is 186-90. That is the most wins and highest win percentage for a softball coach in school history.
Newell brought WBC to its first ever NAIA National Championship in 2012 when his squad went 51-10, and reached as high as 13 in the NAIA National Polls. His team won the school's first American Midwest Conference tournament championship.
In his six years as Head Coach, the team has been AMC outright champions once and has shared the AMC championship twice. He has been voted AMC Coach of the Year three straight years (2010-2012).
Newell has coached 2 NAIA All-Americans, 6 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 1 AMC Player of the Year, 2 AMC Pitcher of the years, 2 AMC Freshman of the Years, 31 AMC All-Conference players, and 70 Academic All-Conference players.
Newell has a Bachelors of Science in Education from Williams Baptist College and a Master's of Science from William Woods University. He also is the Head Coach for the Lady Eagles volleyball team.
Newell married April Newell on August 3, 2002. The couple has five daughters: Gabriella 8, Juliana 7, Adalynn 4, Jillian 3, and Jacqueline 4 months old.
