Walnut Ridge, Ark. - For the second time this season, a Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles softball player has won an American Midwest
Conference weekly award. This time, freshman Laura Helmich (FR/Avilla, Ark. ) has been named AMC Pitcher of the Week.
Helmich received the honor after earning two wins against top AMC competition. First, she dominated William Woods University last Friday with a complete game shutout performance. She followed that effort in the AMC Game of the Week against 23rd ranked Park University on Saturday. She earned the win after giving up four runs in a complete game effort. She struck out five batters and allowed eight hits in the contest.
The Avilla, Ark., native improved to 7-2 on the season. Her ERA is now a microscopic 1.11 on the season. She is ranked in the top 50 in the NAIA in eight different categories, including (9) opponents batting average, (10) hits allowed per game, (23) in earned run average, and (30) in total runs allowed.
