Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The American Midwest Conference cross country championships were held over the weekend, and the Williams Baptist College men's and women's teams held their own at the event. The men finished in seventh place, while the women finished fifth. The competition was held in Belleville, Ill., and was hosted by Lindenwood University-Belleville.
The men were led by Alex Van Herpen, who finished the 8km race in 28:18, which placed him 17th overall. That is the highest place finish in a conference meet since the school reinstated cross country in 2014. John Fairris followed him with a time of 28:54. Joey Colvert also managed to come in under 30 minutes with a time of 29:45. Rounding out WBC's top seven racers were Tracy Allen Jr.(30:58), Davis Fetzer (31:01), Jack Wafler 31:07, and Levi Yarbro 31:21.
