Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College men's cross country team traveled to Clarksville, Ark., to compete in the University of the Ozarks 8K Invitational Run. The Eagles finished fourth out of ten teams in the event.
This is the third straight event that the Eagles have competed as a team and improved the team score. The fourth place finish is the highest for the 2016 season for the squad.
Alex Van Herpen (SO/Mansfield, Ark. ) was the first Eagle across the line. He finished 18th overall with a time of 27:24. John Guyton (FR/Blytheville, Ark. ) finished 28th with a time of 28:25. John Fairris (JR/Strong, Ark. ) (33rd, 28:57), Antonio Santos (FR/Sao Paulo, Brazil ) (44th, 30:07), Tracy Allen Jr. (JR/Wilson, Ark. ) (45th, 30:14) and Davis Fetzer (SO) (46th, 30:16) all finished within the top-50.
Rounding out the rest of the times for WBC were: Joey Colvert (FR/Bryant, Ark.) (51st, 30:50), Levi Yarbro (SO/Powhatan, Ark. ) (52nd, 31:29), Dakota Dwyer (JR/Gassville, Ark. ) (58th, 32:42), Jack Wafler (FR/Bartlett, Tenn. ) (61st, 32:55), Theron Newberry (FR/Paragould, Ark. ) (63rd, 33:23), Josiah Marlow (FR/Imboden, Ark. ) (65th, 33:55), Alex Cowgill (FR/East Prairie, Mo.) (71st, 34:57) and Colton Babbitt (SR/Benton, Ark. ) (80th, 39:54).
The next event for the WBC cross country team will be the Choctaw Open on Saturday, October 15. The men's 8K run is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m., in Clinton, Miss.
