Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College women's basketball team traveled to Blue Mountain College on Monday afternoon for a non-conference showdown against the Lady Toppers. Williams won its third consecutive contest 87-55.
Williams led 43-30 at the end of the first half and used a second half surge to power past BMC in the match.
WBC shot a blistering 51 percent (34-of-67) from the floor in the contest compared to just 31 percent for Blue Mountain (22-of-71). Williams also shot 13-of-15 from the free throw line, collectively.
Five Lady Eagles finished in double-figures in scoring. Senior Alisha Stone (SR/Blytheville, Ark.) tallied 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She also went 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Alytrius Perry (JR/Marked Tree, Ark. ) had 15 points and six rebounds. Da'Monique Brown (SO/Luxora, Ark. ) added 13 points and nine boards. Michaela Thompson (SR/Viola, Ark.) had 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Taylor Williams (JR/Mountain Home, Ark. ) finished with 11 points.
Porche Hall (SR/Wynne, Ark.) followed her 19 rebound performance on Thursday night against the Lady Toppers with a 14 rebound effort on Monday. She also added seven points.
BMC was led by Matavia Cox in scoring. She finished with 15 points. Bryana Davis added 10 points.
Williams improves to 3-0 this season. The next game for the Lady Eagles will be against Lindenwood University-Belleville. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., against the Lady Lynx.
