Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College women's basketball team hosted Crowley's Ridge College on Tuesday night for its opening contest of the 2015 season. Williams won 83-58 in front of a large crowd in the Southerland-Mabee Center.
Williams outscored CRC in every quarter and held a 41-28 edge at the end of the first half. Da'Monique Brown (SO/Luxora, Ark. ) finished with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, which were both game highs. She shot 9-of-14 from the floor, which included 2-for-2 from behind the arc.
Alisha Stone (SR/Blytheville, Ark.) finished 6-for-9 from the floor and added 16 points. Alytrius Perry (JR/Marked Tree, Ark. ) was the only other Lady Eagle to reach double-figures in scoring with 12 points.
"Overall, I was pleased with our guard play," said Head Coach Carol Halford. "My only complaint with them would have been our turnovers. I think CRC was more competitive than in the past. Our post play will have to be up to par to beat Blue Mountain on Thursday."
Williams is now 1-0 this season. The next game for WBC will be against Blue Mountain College on Thursday, November 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Walnut Ridge.
