Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College men's cross-country team competed in the American Midwest Conference championships on Friday morning in Henderson, Tenn. The Eagles placed fifth out of nine teams in the meet.
Davis Fetzer (SO/Defiance, Mo. ) (29:50, 19th), Mathew Bell (SO/Harrison, Ark. ) (29:55, 20th) and Alex Van Herpen (FR/Mansfield, Ark. ) (30:05, 21st) gave the Eagles a trio of top-25 performances. Ben Warner (SR/Magnolia, Ark. ) (31:05, 29th) and Dakota Dwyer (SO/Mountain Home, Ark.) (31:26, 34th) rounded out the top-five performances for the team.
Rounding out the rest of the squad were: Antonio Carlos (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil ) (33:33, 45th), Levi Yarbro (FR/Imboden, Ark. ) (34:06, 47th), Jacob Brown (FR) (39:40, 62nd) and Colton Babbitt (SO/Benton, Ark. ) (43:40, 64th).
Williams finished the year with two top-four finishes along with a pair of top-five performances in its second season.
"Both teams had an outstanding season and did well in conference." said Head Coach Andrew Watson. "I couldn't be more happy with the hard work and dedication of each runner. The future is very bright for the cross country program at WBC and I anticipate all of my runners to make significant improvements as we prepare for next season. I am very privileged to coach such a good group of student-athletes."
