Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball team had three players honored by the American Midwest Conference following its run in postseason play. Braxton Rhodes (FR/Fayette, Ala. ), Ryan Shelton (JR/Brentwood, Tenn. ) and Tucker Smith (JR/Southaven, Miss. ) were honored.
Rhodes was honored as the Freshman Player of the Year in the AMC. Rhodes also made the Gold Glove Team in left field and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition. Rhodes hit .342 with seven doubles, a team-high three triples, one home run and 15 RBIs. He also led the Eagles pitching staff with a 4-5 record with a 4.41 ERA and 54 strikeouts.
Shelton led WBC in several offensive categories. He posted a .356 average with 53 hits, 18 doubles, six home runs and 28 RBIs. He also tied for the team lead with eight stolen bases.
Smith hit .305 with a home run and 17 RBIs. The Eagles midfielder help solidify the middle in his first season after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Williams finished the year 18-30 overall and tied for 7th place in the AMC. WBC also advanced to the AMC Tournament for the first time in 12 seasons.
