Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball team swept a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday afternoon. WBC defeated Crowley's Ridge College 10-8 in game one and 9-3 in game two. The games were played at Shell Field.
Brennan Pugh (JR/Houston, Miss. ) and Ryan Shelton (JR/Brentwood, Tenn. ) each hit a home run in game one. Shelton would lead the team with a 3-for-4 performance. Pugh paced the team with four RBI's. Alex Camp (FR/Jonesboro, Ark. ) added a 2-for-3 day with a pair of RBI's.
Starting pitcher Jordan Hamrick (SO/Marion, Ark. ) earned his first win of the season. He threw five innings, surrendering five runs while striking out two batters. Dylan Disotell (JR/Junction City, Ark.) earned his first save of the season in relief. He threw the final two innings, surrendering three runs while striking out three batters.
The Eagles completed the afternoon sweep with a 9-3 victory in game two. Shelton hit his second homerun of the day in the win. Braxton Rhodes (FR/Fayette, Ala. ) finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI's. Pugh added a 2-for-3 day with three runs scored.
WBC starter Paul Keen (SR/McCrory, Ark.) earned the game two victory. He threw five innings, giving up three runs on three hits while striking out three batters.
Williams has now won four straight games and back-to-back series. The next game for the Eagles will be against Park University on April 24th. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m., in Parkville, Mo., against the Pirates.
