Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College baseball team visited Hendrix College on Tuesday afternoon for a mid-week series against the Warriors of Hendrix College. Williams won game one 7-6 before falling 8-5 in the nightcap.
The Eagles trailed 5-0 early in the first contest, but six runs in the fifth inning gave the Eagles the momentum to take the contest. WBC out-hit Hendrix 9-8 in the game. Alex Camp (FR/Jonesboro, Ark. ) and Eric Kent (JR/Ft. Madison, Iowa) each had two hits to lead the Eagles. Catcher Daniel Lester (FR/Merritt Island, Fla. ) led the team with two RBIs.
Dalton Freshour (SO/West Plains, Mo. ) earned his first win of the season on the mound in the win. Kent came in and shut the door for his first save of the season in the seventh frame.
Hendrix was able to rebound and take the nightcap of the short series 8-5. Tanner Murray (JR/Piggott, Ark. ) went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and a pair of RBIs. Kagen Brown (SO/Jonesboro, Ark. ) added a 3-for-4 day with two RBIs. Kent also contributed with a 2-for-4 performance.
Williams is now 10-25 on the season. The Eagles will return to conference play this weekend with a three game set at home, against the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., on April 17th.
