Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball team fell to the 11th ranked Spartans of Missouri Baptist University. Williams lost 4-2 and 14-2 on Friday, before falling in the finale 10-4 on Saturday.
WBC out-hit the Spartans 7-6 in the game one loss. Freshman Braxton Rhodes (FR/Fayette, Ala. ) threw a complete game, surrendering four runs on six hits with eight strikeouts. Daniel Lester (FR/Merritt Island, Fla. ) and Kagen Brown (SO/Jonesboro, Ark. ) each went 2-for-3, with Brown having two RBIs on his first homerun of the season.
Tucker Smith (JR/Southaven, Miss. ) finished 4-for-4 in game two and went 2-for-4 in game three to lead the Eagles at the plate. Seth Hart (SO/Hoxie, Ark. ) hit his first homerun of the season in game three.
Williams is now 9-24 overall and 4-16 in the American Midwest Conference. The next game for WBC is a home contest against Hendrix College on Tuesday, April 14th. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., at Shell Field.
