Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball team fell to Freed-Hardeman University in a three-game series over the weekend, surrendering by scores of 10-8, 2-1 and 14-1.
In game one, Ryan Shelton (JR/Brentwood, Tenn. ) finished 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBIs. Brennan Pugh (JR/Houston, Miss. ) went 3-for-5, Daniel Lester (FR/Merritt Island, Fla. ) went 2-for-3 and Tucker Smith (JR/Southaven, Miss. ) added a homerun in the contest. Paul Keen (SR/McCrory, Ark.) took the loss in relief of starter Braxton Rhodes (FR/Fayette, Ala. ). As a team, Williams out-hit the Lions 15-12.
Game two was a pitching duel between starters Ethan Quarles (JR/Millington, Tenn.) and FHU starter Brandon Guske. Quarles suffered the loss, throwing a complete game while surrendering only four hits, one earned run and he striking out two batters. As was the case in game one, the Eagles out-hit FHU 6-4, but could only score one run in the contest.
The next match for the Eagles is against Lyon College on Tuesday, April 7th. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., at WBC's Shell Field.
