Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College baseball team traveled to Batesville, Ark., on Tuesday for a doubleheader with Lyon College. The Eagles dropped both American Midwest Conference games by the scores of 1-0 and 12-2.
Game one was an edgy affair, with the only run coming off a single in the bottom of the 5th. Dalton Freshour (SO/West Plains, Mo. ) put in a stellar performance from the mound, allowing four hits and one run in his five innings of work. He also struck out three Scot batters.
It was a clean fielding game as neither team committed an error in the contest.
Game two did not start as well for Williams, as they gave up seven runs in the first inning. The Eagles bounced back in the second with two runs, as Braxton Rhodes (FR/Fayette, Ala. ) and Brennan Pugh (JR/Houston, Miss. ) each crossed the plate.
The losses give the Eagles a record of 7-14 overall and 3-6 in the AMC. They will host University of the Ozarks in a doubleheader, beginning at 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 26.
