Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College baseball team traveled to Brookhaven, Miss., for a non-conference, four-game series against Central Methodist University. Central Methodist earned a sweep, winning by the scores of 5-1, 12-2 on Friday and 3-1, 9-6 on Saturday.
Williams out-hit Central Methodist 13-12 in the final game of the series. Six Eagle errors proved costly in determining the outcome of the 9-6 game.
Ryan Shelton blasted two home runs in the contest. He finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Braxton Rhodes also hit a solo home run. Rhodes finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Williams is now 4-8 on the season. The Eagles will open conference play against Hannibal-LaGrange University on Friday, March 6th. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., at Shell Field.
