Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College men's basketball team had little trouble dispatching the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University with a 74-45 rout on Saturday afternoon. The contest was played at Walnut Ridge.
Williams held the lead throughout the game, and never looked back. They out-scored Hannibal on fast break points by a 17-4 margin. The Eagles also dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Trojans 49-31.
James McClain (SR/Covington, Tenn. ) led all scorers with 20 points. The senior forward also added 11 rebounds. Abel Yekeh (JR/Newark, N.J.) posted a double-double of his own with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Tevin Howard (JR/Luxora, Ark.) added 12 points and Aaron Hamby (JR/Malvern, Ark.) had nine points and six rebounds off the bench.
HLGU (6-15, 6-10 AMC) was led by Tony Ardison, who posted eight points.
The win was the fourth straight conference victory for the Eagles and improves its American Midwest Conference record to 12-5.
Williams is now 13-8 overall on the season. It's next game is against conference foe and in-state rival Lyon College on Saturday, February 14th. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., in WBC's Southerland-Mabee Center.
