Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College men's basketball team won its second straight American Midwest Conference game in blowout fashion by routing the Owls of William Woods University 82-53. The match was held Saturday in Walnut Ridge.
The Eagles shot a blistering 56% from the field, which included a 12-for-21 performance from behind the arc, compared to just 36% overall for the Owls. Williams never trailed in the contest and led by as much as 34 points in the second half.
Abel Yekeh posted a season-high with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward James McClain also scored 21 points in the game. Tevin Howard had 17 points, knocking down five-of-seven shots from the three-point line. Aaron Hamby had 12 points on four-of-seven shooting from behind the arc. The Owls were led by DJ Johnson, who posted 12 points for WWU (3-6, 1-2).
Williams improves to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the AMC. Its next contest is against the Bulldogs of Benedictine University-Springfield on Thursday, December 11th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., in Springfield, Ill.
