Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College baseball team hosted Victory University in the final home games of the regular season on Tuesday afternoon. Victory took the first game 4-1, but WBC bounced back in game two to win 13-3 in a shortened six-inning contest.
In game one, Kendall Fay (SR/Piedmont, Mo.) was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Mitchell Dennis (SR/Neeleyville, Mo.) and Blake Coffman (JR/Keiser, Ark. ) each finished 1-for-3 with a double, respectively. Seth Hart (FR/Hoxie, Ark. ) also finished 1-for-3 in the contest.
In the second contest, Victory raced out to an early 3-0 lead after three innings. WBC fought back, however, with thirteen unanswered runs, including ten in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule. Williams outhit Victory 14-5 in the contest.
Freshman Marco Palacios (FR/Houston, Texas) had his best outing of the season in the game. He finished 4-for-4, which included a double and a triple, along with three RBIs and three runs scored. Kagen Brown (FR/Jonesboro, Ark. ) finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Nick Scott (FR/Jacksonville, Fla. ) finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, Noe Martinez (FR/Houston, Texas) finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI and Dylan Clark (SO/Bono, Ark. ) went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Fay added a pinch-hit two run double in the sixth inning to finish 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs.
Nathan Thomas (JR/Mountain View, Mo.) earned his first win of the season in relief. He recorded two outs on two pitches to end the top of the sixth.
The baseball Eagles wrap up regular season play with a three game series in St. Louis against Harris-Stowe State University. The first pitch Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the first pitch for Saturday is scheduled for 12 p.m.
