Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College baseball team traveled to St. Louis for its second conference series of the year against the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University. MBU managed to sweep the series by final scores of 4-3 on Friday and 6-1, 10-0 on Saturday.
WBC's Daniel Rodriguez took the loss on the mound in game one. The freshman put up a strong outing in his first career start, throwing 8.2 innings while surrendering only seven hits and three earned runs. Spencer Thielemier was 2-for-4 on the day and teammate Jim Manney finished 2-for-3.
Williams is now 5-13 on the season and 0-6 in the American Midwest Conference. Conference play continues this week as the Eagles take on the Scots of Lyon College on Tuesday. The doubleheader will be played on Shell Field in Walnut Ridge, with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
