Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball team defeated the Bobcats of the College of the Ozarks on Tuesday afternoon. WBC's home opening series saw an 8-2 victory followed by a 7-4 win. The strong efforts by freshmen starting pitchers Cade Sawyer and Spencer Theilmeier allowed just one run a piece.
Williams led the Bobcats with 21 to 12 hits, 12 to 5 in earned runs and one less error for the series. "I felt we played well today as a team, both offensively and defensively," said Head Coach Frank Lee.
Earlier in the month, WBC had dropped a two-game series against C of O, and Lee said he was happy to turn the tables on the Bobcats. "We were able to even the score with the College of the Ozarks, with a total team effort," Lee added.
WBC improves its record to 3-5 on the season. The Eagles return to action Friday and Saturday in a four game series against Crowley's Ridge College. The contests will be played at CRC and the first pitch will be thrown at noon, each day.
