Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College Eagles basketball team traveled to St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday to take on the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University. The Hornets were able to slip away with a 103-98 overtime victory in the highly contested match with seven ties and 13 lead changes.
Harris-Stowe raced out to a ten point lead with under a minute left of the first half and managed to hold on to a 49-42 advantage at halftime. WBC battled back in the second half, however, by outscoring HSSU 47-40 to tie the game at 89 at the end of regulation.
Kevin Charles posted a double-double for the Eagles, leading all scorers with 37 points and he also added 10 rebounds. James McClain also notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. E.J. Rucker scored 13 points and Tony Jeffries added 10 points to pace the Eagles squad. Jacob Lloyd led the Hornets in scoring with 23 points.
Williams is now 11-11 overall and 5-9 in the AMC. Its next scheduled contest is against the 6th ranked Columbia Cougars. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., on February 13th in Columbia, Mo.
