Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College baseball team with Crowley's Ridge College in a doubleheader last week before being swept in a four game series against American Midwest Conference foe William Woods University over the weekend.
Jim Manney provided a plethora of offense for the Eagles during the week. He batted .611, going 11-for-18 from the plate with three home runs and eight runs batted in. He also scored seven runs, had three doubles and had a stolen base. His slugging percentage for the week was 1.278.
The doubleheader against CRC was played in Paragould, Ark. The Eagles won game one 3-1. Nathan Thomas earned the win, pitching four innings, allowing one run on one hit. He also struck out three batters.
Despite coming out to a 13-2 lead in game two, CRC would mount a comeback and beat Williams 15-14. WBC had seven extra-base hits in the contest, including a home run by Aaron Jones.
The Eagles hosted WWU over the weekend in a four game conference set at Shell Field. Williams dropped all four games 10-0, 15-8, 3-2, and 18-8.
Chris Richardson and Michael Reynolds provided the best pitching performance in the series. They combined to throw seven innings in game three, giving up three runs while striking out five. WBC smacked five extra-base hits in the series.
The 1-5 tally for the week dropped Williams' record to 14-34 overall and 6-18 in the AMC. The team will travel to Parkville, Mo., on Friday and Saturday for a four game series with Park University.
