Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College Eagles baseball squad hosted the Mustangs from Central Baptist College in a four-game weekend series this past weekend. The Mustangs prevailed in three of the four games played at Shell Field.
In game one, Williams fell 7-4. Conar Keis went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run and an RBI. He also stole a base for the Eagles. Tyler Williams added two hits on four at bats for WBC. The offense wasn't enough, however, as the Mustangs scored two runs in the second inning, one each in the third and fourth innings and three in the sixth on their way to the win.
Williams scored first in game two, but CBC scored five runs in the fourth inning, enabling them to win 9-3. Kendall Fay and Williams provided the offense for the Eagles, combining to go 4-for-8 from the plate.
WBC's bats awoke for game three, as they scored seven runs in the first and second innings combined and nine for the game. The game finished at 9-8 for the Eagles' lone victory on the weekend. Williams hit a home run for WBC, making him1-for-3 with two runs and three runs batted in for the game.
Cody Stause gave up one hit in one inning of relief to earn the win. Curtis Jackson closed the game for the save.
Williams dropped the final game 5-2. Fay went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run scored. Mitchell Dennis was 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored.
The Eagles record now stands at 5-14. American Midwest Conference play begins with a four game series at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis, Mo. The series will be played Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9.
