Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College Eagles basketball squad opened its American Midwest Conference season against the sixth ranked Cougars from Columbia College. The game played, in Walnut Ridge at the Southerland-Mabee Center, saw the Cougars leave with a 70-56 victory.
Kyle Harvey collected a double-double for the Eagles, scoring 17 points and gathering 14 rebounds. Chase Norwood was the only other Eagle player in double figures with 13. Columbia was led by Derrick Dilworth with 13 points and Devin Griffin with 11.
The Cougars shot 44 percent from the field for the contest, while the Eagles shot 38 percent. Williams out-rebounded Columbia 42-37.
The Eagles will play their first AMC road game of the campaign on Saturday, January 5, at Lyon College. The game will be played in Batesville, Ark., at 4 p.m.
