Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College men's and women's cross country programs traveled to Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday to compete in the famed Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The men finished in 36th place, while the women finished in 40th place.
The men's race was the first 10km of the season for WBC. John Fairris (SR/Strong, Ark.) led the way for the team, finishing with a time of 36:10. Justin Stevens (SR/McMinnville, Ore.) was next with a time of 36:45. Following them were John Guyton (SO/Blytheville, Ark.) (37:24), Alex Van Herpen (JR/Mansfield, Ark.) (37:26), Davis Fetzer (SR/Defiance, Mo.) (39:59), Brantly James (FR/Poplar Bluff, Mo.) (40:14), Levi Yarbro (JR/Powhatan, Ark.) (40:38), Jackson Wafler (SO/Memphis, Tenn.) (41:40), and Noah Stoddard (SR/Paragould, Ark.) finished in 48:52.
The women ran a 5km race with Hannah Roberts (SR/Maynard, Ark.) leading the way with a time of 20:45. Next, Betsy Ryan (SR/Harrison, Ark.) finished in 21:11. Kristen Smith (JR/Bono, Ark.) (23:06), Lauren Garrison (SR/Batesville, Ark.) (23:39), Andrea Gayton (JR/Batesville, Ark.) (25:22), Breana Roberts (JR/Maynard, Ark.) (25:39), Dominique Coln (27:15), and Taylor Johnson (SO/Hillsboro, Mo.) finished in 30:40.
Next, the teams will travel to Clarksville, Ark., to compete at the University of the Ozarks Invitational on Oct. 7.
