Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College golf teams traveled to Shawnee, Okla., to compete in the SGU Cavalier Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The men's team finished in fifth place with a score of 638 over the two day tournament. On the women's side, Kenzie Piker (FR/Bald Knob, Ark.) finished in 28th place.
"The team battled and grinded out some scores on day two after a disappointing Monday. I am proud of how they responded under some tough conditions. With a team full of freshmen, a learning curve is to be expected, but we just have to continue getting better each day," said Head Coach Ty Jones.
Reece Posey (FR/Saginaw, Texas) led the Eagles, finishing 10th individually at the tournament. He fired a five over 76 on day one, and followed it up with a six over 77 on day two. Hill McCrory (FR/Madison, Ala.) shot back-to-back 77's to finish in 13th place.
Jordon Dennis (FR/Hughes Springs, Texas) shot an 85 on day one, but responded well on the second day, shooting his low round of 77. This allowed him to finish in a tie for 28th place. Seth Robinson (FR/Corning, Ark.) finished with two rounds of 85, placing 34th. While, Jacob Webb (FR/Drasco, Ark.) shot 88 on day and 84 on day, placing him in 36th place to round out WBC's scorers.
Kenzie Piker is the Lady Eagles finished in 28th place with a total score of 233.
The next event for the golf programs will be the Freed-Hardeman Fall Invitational. This two day tournament will be held on Sept. 25 and 26 in Covington, Tenn.
