Walnut Ridge, Ark. - Head Coach Ty Jones and the Williams Baptist College golf program opened their on-campus driving range on Friday. The driving range is approximately 350 yards long and 150 yards wide and is located on the south side of campus behind Belle Hall.
Ronnie Cline of Environmentally Friendly Racing of Jonesboro donated range signs, and range mats towards the project. He also sold WBC the golf picker and golf balls for the facility. Crockett Murphy was the contractor responsible for the concrete needed for the launch pad.
"We are appreciative of the donations, as well as the efforts provided by Ronnie Cline, Environmentally Friendly Racing, and Crockett Murphy. This great facility would not be possible without them," stated Coach Jones.
The facility consists of 19 target flags over the vast area.
"This will be a huge asset for our golf program, as many of our practices can take place right here on campus. It is real advantage having this kind of facility on campus," Jones said.
This will be the first year WBC has had women's golf, and the first time for the school will have a men's team since 2003.
Williams is a Christian liberal arts college in Walnut Ridge.
